How to keep cholesterol level in check

I’m writing this blog on my experience on how I controlled my cholesterol level. My cholesterol level was 280, really alarming. Within one month I reduced to 150 without any pills. You can also follow the steps followed by me but first consult your doctor.

Keeping cholesterol levels under control is very important to protect the heart. Those with borderline high readings can first try lifestyle changes rather than taking pills.

Try to follow the simple tips to lower your cholesterol level :

Switch to Soya

Tofu, soya mince, soya nuts, yogurts, and soya milk are alternatives to meat and whole fat dairy goods. Soya is full of protein, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals, which help lower cholesterol. Initially, I’m not too fond of soya, but eventually, I adapted for my health.

Porridge as perfect breakfast

I used to have bread for my breakfast, but now I swap it with oats. Oats contain a particular type of soluble, called beta-glucan fiber. I started having oats regularly. It forms a gel in the gut, which can bind to cholesterol-rich molecules and stop them from being absorbed into the bloodstream.

Juice

Beetroot and bottle guard juice is beneficial for keeping our cholesterol in check. I usually take one glass of juice during lunch.

Handful of Nuts

Whenever my hanger pangs strike, I reached for biscuits, cakes, or chocolates; because of this habit, my cholesterol level shoots. After that, I start taking nuts, a great source of proteins, fiber, vitamins, and minerals such as magnesium, potassium, zinc, and copper.

Almonds, pistachios, walnuts, pecans, cashews, and peanuts are high in healthy unsaturated fat, which is good for the heart.

Brisk walking

My lifestyle was sedentary; I use a four-wheeler for even 500 meters distance, which resulted in my high cholesterol.

Brisk walking burns our cholesterol and thus lowers the cholesterol. Daily five km of brisk walking is good for reducing the level.

Weight resistance

Lifting weights or resistance training is also very effective in reducing harmful LDL cholesterol from their blood, reducing the risk of heart disease.

Practice Yoga

Practicing yoga regularly led to falling in harmful cholesterol levels and weight and blood pressure. I’m taking yoga sessions online daily for 1 hour. It helped me immensely specially Sun-Salutation is highly effective. I perform fifty rounds of it five times a week.

Two apples a day

Apples have high levels of fiber and disease-fighting compounds called polyphenols, which cut LDL cholesterol levels significantly in patients with readings bordering on dangerous. In the evening I eat two apples which keep me full for three hours.

A big no to fast food

Never go for fast food or packed food because it contains harmful contents which will harm your heart.

Slight changes in lifestyle and diet will help you lower your cholesterol level without taking pills.
